PPI presents its projects portfolio to representatives of the Saudi Arabian Sovereign Fund

On 8/11, the Brazilian Government received representatives of the Saudi Arabian Sovereign Fund (PIF) to present the main development projects underway in Brazil, especially in the areas of infrastructure, energy and agriculture. 

Organized by the Executive Office (“Casa Civil”), the meeting brought together representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Infrastructure (Minfra), Agriculture (MAPA), Mines and Energy (MME), Regional Development (MDR), the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic and BNDES. 

During the event, the PPI Special Secretary, Martha Seillier, presented the portfolio of PPI projects, especially those in the area of transport, water security and sanitation.

Among the highlights were Ferrogrão (a railway project linking the city of Sinop, in Mato Grosso, an important grain producer, to the Port of Miritituba, in Pará, which could revolutionize national agro-export logistics) and the Integration Projects of the São Francisco River and irrigation of the Baixio do Irecê. The initiatives for granting private water and wastewater services to several Brazilian municipalities, with support from the Federal Government, were also mentioned.

Os representantes do Fundo Soberano saudita informaram que mantêm uma equipe dedicada à análise dos projetos de infraestrutura brasileiros, devido à relevância atribuída à parceria estratégica com o Brasil. O Fundo reforçou sua intenção de realizar investimentos de US$ 10 bilhões no Brasil, sobretudo na área de infraestrutura, manifestada durante visita presidencial realizada em outubro de 2019.

The representatives of the Saudi Sovereign Fund informed that they maintain a team dedicated to the analysis of Brazilian infrastructure projects, due to the relevance attributed to the strategic partnership with Brazil. The Fund reinforced its intention to make investments of US$ 10 billion in Brazil, especially in the area of ​​infrastructure, expressed during the presidential visit to Saudi Arabia in October 2019.
