Americas PPP

At the invitation of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), José Carlos Medaglia Filho, Secretary of Strategic Works and Development of the PPI, was present at the PPP Americas 2019 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on May 15 and 16.

The PPP Americas is a traditional two-year event that brings together representatives from Latin American and Caribbean countries to discuss experiences and disseminate good practices in Public-Private Partnerships.
The interest in doing business with Brazil was demonstrated by the large public in the panels that dealt with the PPI project portfolio and the legal and regulatory innovations that are being implemented to reduce bureaucracy and increase the legal security of hiring. Secretary Medaglia participated in the panels and of individual meetings scheduled with foreign investors.
In addition to the national projects of concessions and PPPs, the support that the Federal Government has been providing to the states and municipalities in the structuring of partnerships of interest to these subnational entities has also been highlighted in projects that also count with the participation of the IDB, allocating resources, and promoting the qualification of the local teams to ensure the success of the enterprises.
At the end of the event, it was announced that the city of São Paulo in Brazil will host the next edition of the event to be held in 2021. The Brazilian representatives thanked the board of the IDB for the honor of the choice and projected that the PPP Americas 2021 will find a favorable environment for the discussions of the theme and for presentation of the results of the projects that are currently being implemented.
