The BR-364/RO/MT Highway Project was qualified in the Investment Partnerships Program (PPI) at the 3rd Meeting of the PPI Council held on August 23, 2017. The concession encompasses the stretch between the junction with BR-174 (A) in Comodoro, MT and Porto Velho, RO (Ulisses Guimarães Access), for a total of 806.3 km in length. This stretch is a two-lane road for 783.9 km and a four-lane road for 22.4 km.
The Highway accesses the Porto Velho, RO port from where grain produced in the northwestern region of the state of Mato Grosso is shipped to the Rio Madeira waterway. The stretch already has a high volume of traffic and can become a bottleneck with the expansion of agribusiness, in addition to being the only highway connection from Porto Velho and the state of Acre to the other regions of Brazil.
The concession, which will be for 30 years, intends to expand the capacity of the road by reducing transportation cost and travel time between northwestern Mato Grosso and Porto Velho and to encourage the creation and consolidation of a new grain outflow vector from the production areas in the region.
