The BR-116/RJ/SP (Nova Dutra) project was qualified in the Investment Partnerships Program (PPI) during the 2nd Meeting of the PPI Council, held on March 7th, 2017.
The project is 402 km long and connects the two major metropolitan areas of the country, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The Highway is also the main link between the Northeast and the South of the Country, crossing 34 cities. Currently, the enterprise is administered by Rodovia Presidente Dutra S/A (Nova Dutra) and the current contract expires in 2021.
The average volume of vehicles is approximately 42 thousand per day, with a daily average of 666 occurrences, between medical aid and mechanical distress. It is the largest road concession in the country in terms of daily volume of traffic.
This Highway, as well as BR-116/RJ and BR-040/MG/RJ, is strategic for the extent and volume of traffic. In this sense, they must be studied together in order to define the model that generates the highest asset value.
The investments resulting from the new contract will result in the improvement of the service offered and technical aspects as: greater fluidity and reliability; improvements in the safety of cargo and passenger transport; in the reduction of occurrences of damages and accidents; and, consequently, in the optimization of travel time and logistic cost.
Importance: connects the two largest metropolitan regions of the country. Also, it is part of the main link between the Northeast and South, cutting 34 cities.
Currently, the project is in the preparation phase of the studies.
