Project Summary

In May 2015, the CELG-D was included in the National Privatization Program (PND) through Decree No. 8.449/15. The Ministry of Mines and Energy has assumed responsibility for leading the company's privatization process, and the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) is in charge of providing the necessary support to the measure.

CELG-D is among the 10 largest energy distributors in Brazil, displaying an above average increase in demand, and its performance is of the utmost importance for economic and social development in the state of Goiás. The company is now controlled by Eletrobrás, which owns 50.93% of its capital stock, and by the government of Goiás, which has, through Celgpar, 49% of the capital in that company.
CELG-D provides power distribution services to 237 municipalities in Goiás - representing more than 98.7% of the territory of the state - and serves 2.61 million consumer units in a concession area of 336,871 square kilometers.

The primary objectives of the transfer of control project, now underway, is to improve the quality of services, make the necessary investments to meet the demand of users, attracting a private partner through a competitive, efficient and transparent process, and getting the best possible price from the sale of the company.
