Project Summary
The EF-151, known as the North-South Railway, is designed to become the backbone of rail transport in Brazil, strategically integrating the country and contributing to the reduction of logistics costs of freight transport. Qualified in the Investment Partnerships Program (PPI) in the 1st Meeting of the PPI Council on September 13th, 2016, the project covers the concession of the section linking the National Port, in the State of Tocantins, to Estrela d'Oeste, State of São Paulo - with an extension of 1,537 km.
The section Porto Nacional / TO - Estrela D'Oeste / SP is divided into two sections:
-
The first is the stretch between Porto Nacional / TO - Anápolis / GO (Central Section), 855 km long, already in operation, with small cargo handling by VALEC;
-
The second is the stretch between the municipalities of Ouro Verde de Goiás / GO and Estrela d'Oeste / SP (South Section), with 682 km, already with 95% of the works completed, also by VALEC;
Another expected benefit of the project is the interconnection of other rail sections that it will enable, and which will favor the country's logistical integration:
-
The Estrela d'Oeste - Três Lagoas / MS stretch, in turn, will cross a region with great agricultural and industrial vocation, attending to the transportation of grains;
-
Finally, the Campinorte / GO - Água Boa / MT section will allow the access of the agricultural production areas of the Central-West region of the country to the existing rail network, being another logistic alternative for grain flow;
-
The studies indicate a load projection for 2051 of more than 68 million tons for the stretch to be granted;
-
The investments planned in this case are around R $ 2.76 billion, based on preliminary services, earthworks, current works of art and drainage, railway superstructure, complementary works, environmental compensations, railroad systems, indirect implementation costs, executive project and railway equipment;
-
The estimated rolling stock is R $ 2.35 billion;
-
For the modeling of the project it is assumed the sub-concession of the stretch by VALEC, adopting the vertical model of exploration of the railroad in which a single company is responsible for the management of the infrastructure and provision of the transportation service;
-
In order to provide access to the ports of the Southeast, North and Northeast, prior to the bidding, the conditions of access, as well as the tariffs related to the right of passage of the adjacent concessions, will be established.
