CEAGESP GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
PROJECT GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Companhia de Entrepostos e Armazéns Gerais de São Paulo (CEAGESP) is a federal public company, in the form of a corporation, linked to MAPA, which has as its statutory commitment, among others, to implement the food supply policy through the installation and management of wholesale warehouses of horticulturists and the network of warehouses and bulk silos, aimed at the storage of grain and industrial products.
The company was federalized in 1997 as a result of the transfer of shares held by the State of São Paulo to the Federal Government as part of State's extraordinary debt amortization.
Since then, it has not achieved economic and financial success in its operations, having offset its losses with financial income from the disposal of assets. This worsening is reflected in successive losses in the last three years, having recorded about R$ 9 million in the year 2018, which makes an alert to the possibility that the company may need resources from the General Budget of the Federal Government (OGU).
Given this context, CEAGESP was qualified in the Investment Partnership Program (PPI), as well as included in the National Privatization Program (PND) by the PPI Council through Resolution 81/2019 aiming to conducting studies for a complete and accurate diagnosis of the company and structuring the best way for its privatization.
Studies are under discussion.
