Project Summary
The Rio Capim Kaolin Project corresponds to a large kaolin deposit covering a total area of 10,000 hectares (ANM files nºs 812.869/1971 to 812.878/1971), divided into two blocks (Southern and Northern). Basic infrastructure is available on site and the deposit is close to another kaolin project.
Brightness and yield index values were estimated for two types of ore: soft kaolin (low content of sand) and sandy kaolin. In the North Block, it has been estimated 574 million tonnes of ore (stripping ratio of 1: 1). In the Southern Block, the total resources have been estimated in 218 million tons (stripping ratio of 0.9). The sum of resources reached 792 million tons, with an average brightness index of 80%. At a recovery rate of 65%, the total resources are equivalent to 520 million tons.
