The result of the auction of the 12 airports, carried out by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), on Friday (15), on the São Paulo Stock Exchange, B3, will yield to the Federal Government a collection of R$ 4.2 billion over 30 years, which is the concession term established. Of this total, R$ 2.377 billion - including the minimum bid and the goodwill offered - will be paid in cash at the signing of the agreement.

The Northeast, Southeast and Midwest blocks were sold with a total goodwill of R$ 2.15 billion in relation to the minimum bid of R$ 218.7 million established in the announcement. "This was our first round of airport concessions in the block model, implemented by PPI, and was successful. It exceeded all expectations and made clear the interest of major investors and major international operators at Brazilian airports”, said PPI’s Special Secretary, Adalberto Vasconcelos.

The Northeast Block, formed by the airports of Recife (PE), Maceió (AL), João Pessoa (PB), Aracaju (SE), Campina Grande (PB) and Juazeiro do Norte (CE), was auctioned off by the consortium AENA Desarrollo Internacional SME S.A. for R$ 1.9 billion, with goodwill of 1.010% in relation to the initial minimum bid of R$ 171 million.

The airports of Vitória (ES) and Macaé (RJ), which make up the Southeast Block, were sold by the Zurich Airport Latin America Ltda. Consortium, with a premium of 830.1% in relation to the initial value of R$ 46.9 million. The group offered R$ 437 million for the two terminals.

The tendered terminals represent 9.5% of the domestic market and serve almost 20 million passengers per year. According to minister of the Secretary of Government, Santos Cruz, the federal government has to stimulate private initiative, "we have to reduce the influence of the state and expand this facility of production to the private part. The 5th round of airport concessions was attended by nine authorized consortia. The contest began at 10 a.m. and was concluded at 11:48, after 55 minutes of live bidding.
