The National Electricity Energy Agency (Aneel) approved, on 8/6, the bid notice for Transmission Auction No. 1/2020. 

The tender comprises the concession of the services of construction, operation and maintenance of transmission lines facilities in 11 lots spread over nine Brazilian States: Amazonas; Bahia and Ceará; Goiás and Mato Grosso do Sul; Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and São Paulo; Rio Grande do Sul.

Projected investments are worth BRL 7,4 billion and more than 15,000 jobs are expected to be created, contributing to the economic recovery post-COVID 19 pandemic. 

The approved text for the Bid Notice considered the 500 contributions received through the Public Consultation No 46/2019, which was carried out in two phases (the first between 12/20/2019-2/3/2020, with 18 participants, the second between 5/14/2020-6/29/2020 with 29 participants). 

Next steps. After approval by Aneel's board of directors, the Bid Notice and other bidding documents proceed to the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU).

In case of changes, the texts will be submitted to Aneel again next November. The auction is expected to be held on December 17 this year.

The deadlines for completing the construction of the transmission facilities vary between 42 and 60 months.
