North-South Railroad Auction to R $ 2.7 Billion to Federal Government

North-South Railroad Auction to R $ 2.7 Billion to Federal Government
The Rumo SA consortium auctioned the Railroad 151 (EF-151), known as the North-South Railroad (FNS), for R $ 2,719,530,000, which represents a premium of 100.29% on the bid minimum of R $ 1,353,550,000.00. The public session was held by the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), on Thursday (28), on the São Paulo Stock Exchange, B3, in São Paulo (SP). The concession contract will be for 30 years, not extendable.

The auctioned stretch has 1,537 kilometers and links Estrela D'Oeste (SP) to Porto Nacional (TO), passing through Minas Gerais and Goiás, and is currently controlled by state-owned Valec. Rumo already operates the North-South stretch from Estrela D'Oeste to the port of Santos, both in the state of São Paulo.

"The result of today's successful auction demonstrates the seriousness of PPI's technical and professional work and consolidates the government's technical and governance strengthening through PPI / SeGov and Ministry of Infrastructure in partnership with the governing bodies. (TCU, MPU, Ciset / Segov), "said Adalberto Vasconcelos, PPI Special Secretary.

Operation

Rumo has two years to make the railroad operate. "We want to make the railroad operate as fast as possible to generate cash," Rumo president Julio Fontana said. "It's a good deal for our company and it has synergy with our operation," he said.

The expected demand for rail - in both the own and third-party mesh - in 2020 is 1.7 million tonnes. By 2055, it should reach 22.7 million.

Rumo disputed the concession of the North-South Railroad with the VLI group, which has Vale, Mitsui and Brookfield among the shareholders.
